Case study: Hiring an Engineering Director for global oil & gas client
The aim of this recruitment assignment was to find candidates who understood the EMEA region’s legacy of large – capital intensive projects whilst recognising that revenues needing to 'ring the till’ are likely to be in the UK & require a different engineering approach. The Client decided to partner with us because we understood the project requirements, timelines and desired candidate personality. Even though SRD Technical were looking for experienced Engineering Director professionals, it was equally important to hire people who would be a great fit for the company, looking to build careers within the organisation and who would bring new & creative ideas to the table.
By getting to know the hiring manager, SRD Technical thoroughly understood what would be important and how the internal & external teams should work together. SRD Technical met with all of the candidates and due diligence was conducted in understanding the organisation but taking into consideration the client’s values.
The EMEA Operations Director was amazed at how a short list of candidates was assembled so quickly when recruiting for a unique office location. For the Client the speed of 1st interviews was critical to the project’s success.
SRD Technical managed all the negotiating around on-boarding & start dates and induction commitments which relieved the hiring manager. The usual commitment of 3 x 1 month performance review meetings were also implemented to ensure the successful candidate was supported in the role right from the start.
Five months on, the Engineering Director has a lot of challenges as the market remains soft in the EMEA but the UK market continues to grow & takes it all on board and deals with it with humour and confidence.

case study: Multiple Placements at Modular Home Building Company
The Client is a leading UK independent modular home builder & retailer and is recognised for its success in engaging its various customers through its unique & long term business relationships established over many years. With the UK under enormous pressure to construct new homes the Client had invested in a brand new manufacturing location & sought SRD Technical ‘s expertise to assist them in several strategic leadership hires.
Due to a period of exceptional market growth, the need arose to fill a number of senior vacancies in the new manufacturing location. It was imperative that the candidates recruited to these positions were an ideal fit in order to contribute to the continuing success of the company. After briefing several agencies, SRD Technical stood out as the only consultancy able to deliver exactly what was required. Essentially they needed a relationship that was built on trust and assurance of successful and sustainable delivery.

case study: Creative Candidate Attraction Capabilities
The client is a global Oil & Gas EPC group offering engineering services to the main Oil Operators in the world. The company is now one of the world's largest EPC firms and recently begun opening office across Europe.
The client contacted SRD Technical to help them find a new Head of Business Development to lead their growing European engineering services arm.
The greatest challenge for this assignment, for both SRD Technical and its client, was the very short timeframe in which to source, screen and interview candidates. Plus, with the spectre of Brexit looming, this appointment would be located in the client’s London offices as this was to be a European-based role. This recruitment campaign would require a well-thought-through candidate attraction programme and tightly controlled candidate management process.
SRD Technical knew that identifying suitable candidates had to be a combination of different sources and methods. SRD Technical turned its back on the traditional route of advertising on a variety of websites/job boards to attract candidates and instead utilised creative ‘head hunting’ tactics to approach candidates directly. Due to the specific nature of the assignment, a proactive approach to contacting through social media channels and gaining referrals was absolutely essential. Candidates, who trusted SRD Technical, were happy to talk to the us and refer colleagues from the industry.
Additional success came from the team’s methodical and detailed approach in keeping a personalised database of BDD candidates’ details and CVs. They kept in contact with relevant candidates regularly so that strong options were close at hand and available very quickly.
Once all of the above methods were used, SRD Technical identified six candidates who were suitable for the role. The process was completed in less than six weeks & the successful candidate was referenced – managed through the counter offer stage – motivated to accept the Offer & on-boarded professionally. Once the candidate was appointed the SRD Technical executed their 3-month performance review sessions to keep in regular contact with them and feedback on their performance has been extremely positive.
SRD Technical continues to work with this client to recruit a range of senior roles across various functional areas.
