ESOS made simple
The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory government scheme for large UK organisations. It requires qualifying businesses to review how they use energy, identify practical ways to reduce consumption and costs, and report their compliance to the Environment Agency.
For ESOS Phase 4, your organisation’s qualification status will be assessed on 31 December 2026. Organisations that qualify must complete their assessment and report compliance by 5 December 2027.

Organisations with 250 or more employees may qualify.
Your organisation may need to comply if, on 31st December 2026, it meets the employee threshold or both financial thresholds. Corporate group structures also need to be considered.

How do we know whether our corporate group qualifies?

Not every site will necessarily need a visit. We will select a representative sample based on factors such as energy consumption, building type and operational activity.
